“love rain”

“Love Rain” Review

Synopsis: “Love Rain” depicts a 1970’s pure love and a love from the present day at the same time. It shows how the children of a previous ill-fated couple, who met in the 1970s, managed to meet and fall in love. Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee, an art student and a shy beauty, met and fell in love with each other during college in the 1970s but unfortunately their love was fated to never be. Now in the present 21st century Korea, Seo In Ha’s son, Seo Joon (a liberal photographer) meets and falls in with the daughter of Kim Yoon Hee, Jung Ha Na, a cheerful and energetic girl who’s personality is different from her mother’s. Will their love for each other keep them together or will they have to face the same fate as their parents?

Review: Where to start? This drama had me kicking and punching every episode!!!! I think I’ll have to do a “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” sort of review, so here goes!

The Good: I loved the plot! Siblings of two doomed-never-to-be lovers falling in love with each other… That definitely has never happened in K-drama history (not that I know of). Spoiler alert! And then to find out the parents found each other again (although In Ha was kind of stalking Yoon Hee at one point) and decided to get married and then the children found out their parents are each other’s long-lost loves?! Heart. Breaking. So I give props to the plot, it really made me cry, smile, and scream a lot! And also, the acting was magnificent! Jang Geun Suk did a terrific job as always and Yoona did much better than her previous acting :)

The Bad: Basic is lack of depth on Taesung… He had the potential to cause a lot of damage of his own and be a major love rival, but he didn’t really fight for Ha Na… Same goes with Sun Ho, I was expecting a Shin Woo kind of character (from the drama “You’re Beautiful”), but one would fight for Ha Na in his cheerful and nice manner; he was so nice *_* If only *sighs* But maybe the fandom of Sun Ho + Ha Na may create a new drama featuring Shi Woo and Yoona? ;) Another bad was the stalking issue. I mean, I guess it made it pretty clear that In Ha would go to all lengths to keep Yoon Hee in his sight after the 30-year absence, but I don’t think that should include standing in the darkness outside of her house for hours on end xD The stalking creeped me out, and by the look on Yoon Hee’s face, I wasn’t the only creeped-out one.

The Ugly: THE LOGIC, OH THE LOGIC!!!! Law of K-dramas: No main character shall possess a logic that will simplify the plot. No, all characters will act ignorant and further complicate EVERYTHING. Why did In Ha suddenly feel like he’s benefitting everyone by joining the army? Why did Yoon Hee leave for America AGAIN? Honestly! Why did In ha wait till the last freaking moment to cancel the wedding when he’s known for a while about the love between Joon and Ha Na? UGH. You know the phrase, “Waste not, want not?” Well, I think they twisted it so it’s, “Waste no logic, DON’T USE ANY” xP

Wow this was a long review! Well, I had much to say! So…

Overall Review: 8 out of 10
I loved the plot and characters, but the random drastic actions were kind of far-fetched to make it believable. Very good drama, I recommend it to all!!!! :)
